Ryan Ames is a research coordinator for the Community Research Institute at the Dorothy A. Johnson Center for Philanthropy at Grand Valley State University in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He has specialized in social research that includes community indicator development, survey design and implementation, statistical analysis, and comprehensive data management.
Ames joined the Johnson Center in early 2011. Previously he served as a technical assistance provider where he specialized in comprehensive land use planning, regional economic development analysis, and brownfield remediation and then as an economic development consultant.
He holds a Bachelorette of Science in Sociology from Grand Valley State University and a Masters of Urban Planning & Policy with specializations in Economic and Community Development from the University of Illinois at Chicago. He is interested in labor economics, workforce development, affordable housing issues, and exploring causal factors that impact pressing community issues.
