Samuel VanGroningen is a Research Coordinator in the Community Research Institute at the Dorothy A. Johnson Center for Philanthropy at Grand Valley State University in Grand Rapids, Mich. He is responsible for coordinating various evaluation activities and for providing training, technical assistance, and ongoing support to partner organizations.

VanGroningen joined the Johnson Center in 2010. Previously he was the project manager for a Substance Use Disorder Outcomes Study and a Family Engagement Therapy Outcomes Study in Kent County.

VanGroningen serves on the board for Partners in Neighborhood Transformation (PiNT). He holds a bachelor’s in Sociology from Calvin College. He is interested in community revitalization, neighborhood development, and developing solutions that address social problems.
